meditation and relaxation

ABOUT US
Zen Miškas is a welcoming retreat Center on the banks of the Neris River, at the edge of the historic village of Čiobiškis. Nearby are ninth-century burial mounds, Lithuania’s only motorless ferry, the Čiobiškis caves, the Janonys and Budeliai hillforts, a manor, pine forests and scenic riverbanks.
We prepare delicious vegetarian food on site, inspired by cuisines from around the world. Our three houses have 11 rooms and can accommodate groups of up to 35 people.
Zen Miškas has a 150 m² hall with beautiful views of a bend in the Neris River. There is also a modern sauna and a Jacuzzi beside the pond.
All this is just 60 km from Vilnius and 70 km from Kaunas.

Video: Zen Miškas in a beautiful white winter
As the pace of life quickens, stress and workloads grow, and modern technology reaches into every part of our lives, more people feel the need for a different way of living. To rediscover peace and the joy of life, many turn to practices held in beautiful natural surroundings. The Zen Miškas meditation retreat offers just such a place.
Come for a weekend, a week or a month and step away from daily routines, pressure, stress and the constant rush. Practices, training sessions and seminars take place here throughout the year.
We are in the beautiful village of Čiobiškis, a place with a rich history. Our secluded houses overlook a bend in the Neris River. Even in bad weather, you can enjoy nature through the large panoramic windows: watch the river flow and the metre-long grass carp glide calmly through the pond.
Here, the sounds of nature—and your chanting and meditation—are never drowned out by neighbours’ music or alarming news reports. We do not host parties, serve alcohol or play music unrelated to the practices held here.

ROOMS
The main building has 2 double rooms, 4 triple rooms and 2 quadruple rooms.
On the second floor there are double rooms with access to the hall.
All rooms and the hall are air-conditioned. Mosquito nets are everywhere.
The teachers' house has 6 beds on the second floor, and 2 beds in a separate room on the first floor. There is also a shower, toilet and kitchenette. All rooms are air-conditioned.
You can also rent a sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi in Zen Forest. The separate sauna house has two showers, a toilet, and a common seating area.
SERVICES
Power supply
The menus created by the owner of Zen Forest, Edita Užaitė, have already become the hallmark of this establishment. Vegetarian food prepared in the style of various world cuisines will amaze even the greatest gourmets.
Garden
It is fun to watch the Neris flow from the site located on the bank of the Neris. A few meters away is a flower garden carefully cultivated by Edita.
This is the second year that the rosary of our late Zen Master, Nun Myong Hae Sunim, has been created. You will always pass it on the way to the main house and it always reminds us of her great compassion for human suffering and tireless devotion to the Buddha's teachings.
Swimming
The best way to swim is by going downstream in the Neris River, which is shallow and safe in the Čiobiškis area, or in a pond with extremely clean flowing water.
Sauna
Jacuzzi
The hot tub is located right on the shore of the pond and offers a wonderful view of the bend of the Neris River. The jacuzzi is a great place to relax in any weather. Even when it's snowing, you feel cozy in it and after ten minutes you're ready to jump into the pool, regardless of the freezing cold or the wonderful Lithuanian drizzle.
Meditation
The spacious 130 sq m. hall is equipped with meditation mats, cushions and warm blankets. The river flowing through the glass windows quickly carries away all unnecessary thoughts.
A modern electric sauna with glass windows that overlook the flowing river and one of the most interesting inventions of an Estonian scientist, the "Saunum Effect", which evenly distributes the heat in the sauna, allowing you to stay in it much longer without fear of damaging your hair or skin.
